As part of his commitment to fulfil his campaign promises, Luka Iliya Zhekaba, a member representing Obi at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has donated hundred long benches and 10 fans worth N1.6million to the Catholic mission in Duduguru , Obi Local Government Area of the state.
Presenting the items to parish priest of Duduguru, Independent Mission, Zhekaba said the gesture was part of his campaign promise when his was canvassing support and seeking God’s blessing from the priest.
The lawmaker, who is also the deputy minority leader in the state Assembly, explained that during his campaign, he promised to do a lot of things for his people, hence his commitment to fulfil them.
According to him, “During my electioneering I when went round to churches canvassing support from the electorate and seeking for God’s blessing, I met the church without benches which I promised that if was elected as a member representing Obi 11, I would construct benches for the church which today I am presenting to parish priest to the glory of God.
“Today, I am here in Duduguru to present 100 long benches and 10 fans to the parish priest in fulfilment of my promise during my electioneering. Our duty is to enact laws that would benefit the common man and provide dividends of democracy that would have direct bearing on the lives of common people in society,” he said.
The deputy minority leader noted that Nasarawa State and Nigeria need fervent prayers from men of God for peace and development.
Receiving the items, the parish priest Rev. Father John Bala Akwe, said the gesture of the House member would go along way to assisting the church.
The Rev who admonished other politicians in the state to emulate the gesture of the lawmaker, emphasised that God would reward anybody who donated for the glory of His name.
