By Ding Zi, Lin Rui, Wang Hui, People’s Daily

Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Nepal is warmly welcomed by the Nepali people and it will inject impetus into the development of relations between the two parties and the two countries, co-chairman of the Nepal Communist Party Prachanda said in an exclusive interview with People’s Daily.

China and Nepal are connected by mountains and rivers and their friendship has a long history, Prachanda said. Since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1955, they have continuously consolidated their friendship. Now, Nepal-China relationship has developed and become a model for friendly cooperation between neighboring countries.

President Xi’s visit will greatly enhance the relationship between the two parties. The Communist Party of Nepal will continue to work to consolidate the friendship, Prachanda said, adding that he is full of confidence in the future development of Nepal-China relations.

Prachanda warmly congratulated China on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC). He said that since the founding of the PRC, China’s economic and social development has undergone earth-shaking changes.

The cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics has made remarkable achievements in the new era. This is a great encouragement for Nepal’s Communist Party. The proletarian political parties all over the world can learn from China’s successful experience of development, he said.

Recalling the meeting with President Xi Jinping, Prachanda said that every meeting with President Xi has impressed him and was very memorable.

He said that the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by President Xi and the concept of building a community of shared future for mankind are worthy of global attention and careful study.

The joint construction of the Belt and Road has promoted connectivity between countries and regions and benefited people along the route. The construction of the Trans-Himalayan Multi-Dimensional Connectivity Network greatly promotes the infrastructure development of Nepal, creates more opportunities for the economic development of country, and connects Nepal with China to form a closer community of shared destiny.

At present, the development of Nepal and China has entered a new era, and the relations between the two parties and the two countries are facing historic development opportunities, Prachanda said.

The Communist Party of China is leading the Chinese people to fight for the great national rejuvenation. The Communist Party of Nepal is also exploring a development path that combines the fundamental principles of Marxism with Nepal’s national conditions.

Nepal’s Communist Party is willing to deepen institutional exchanges with the Communist Party of China, share experiences and theoretical achievements, study and draw on the theoretical innovations of the latter, and promote the continuous development of relations between the two parties and the two countries.
