Man Arrested in Niger State for Allegedly Killing Brother Over Property Dispute

Abubakar Sani, a resident of Gawu Babangida area in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State, has been apprehended for allegedly killing his elder brother, Kabiru Sani, following a dispute over property.

The tragic incident unfolded on Sunday when Abubakar reportedly struck his elder brother with a large stick during a heated argument regarding ownership of a property. Both siblings hailed from Tafa LGA of Niger State.

Sources revealed that tensions had been escalating within the family, with Abubakar allegedly issuing threats prior to the fatal confrontation with his brother.

Confirming the arrest, Wasiu Abiodun, the state’s police spokesman, stated that Abubakar Sani, aged 30, was taken into custody by operatives attached to Gawu-Babangida Division. Kabiru Sani, aged 34, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at FMC, Gawu.

Abiodun noted that preliminary investigations are underway, and the suspect will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further scrutiny and prosecution.
