Man Burnt Alive After Beheading Woman in Delta State

By  Milcah  Tanimu

A shocking incident unfolded in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, where an enraged mob burned a man alive after he beheaded a woman and took her severed head home.

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bright Edafe, confirmed the event, revealing that the suspect, identified as 37-year-old Oghenero, had murdered the victim, Oshomirara, while she worked on her farm.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing Oghenero returning from the bush carrying a blood-soaked polythene bag. Suspicion grew after villagers discovered the woman’s headless body. Youths and local vigilantes traced him to his house, where they found the severed head. As he attempted to escape, they shot him in both legs before setting him on fire.

A viral video captured angry community members chanting as the suspect pleaded for his life.

The incident has sparked widespread debate, with some justifying the mob’s actions while others condemned jungle justice. The police have deployed security operatives to prevent further violence, reiterating the importance of lawful justice instead of vigilante killings.

This case follows another disturbing event in Delta, where a 20-year-old man, Precious, was arrested for allegedly kidnapping and delivering a 10-year-old girl to killers in exchange for ₦200,000.

Authorities urge residents to report crimes to law enforcement rather than resort to mob justice, ensuring that justice is served legally.
