Man declared wanted over IPOB violent protest, homosexual acts

A middle-aged man, Mr Chikwendu Chijioke Ferdinand has been declared wanted by men of the Anambra State Police Command over his alleged involvement in a violent clash between security forces and members of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

Ferdinand, from Umuagu, Eziokwelle in Idemili North Local Government Area is also being accused of engaging in homosexual activities.

The Police command said he was arrested on March 28, 2023 but that he later escaped.

According to the police, “He is one of the notorious leaders of the illegal group, IPOB. under the guise of demanding release of Nnamdi Kanu, they are constituting nuisance to the Nigerian society.

“Already, the group has been outlawed, so anyone that is a member is offending the law.

“So, on that very day, Ferdinand was among the IPOB members that clashed with the military when they attempted to disperse them. He was arrested but his members aided him escape while they were profiling them.

“There was also a joint operation to re-arrest him from his village where he was hiding but he escaped again,” he cop stated, adding that a manhunt for him was in the process.

He further revealed that prior to the latest incident, Ferdinand was facing a case of having unlawful sexual acts.

“He is indulging in homosexuality; we have been evading arrest; however, we must get him to answer to the two crimes,” the police spokesman said.

Meanwhile, Ferdinand’s elder brother, Mr Chukwuebuka has described the operation carried by security agencies in their family house as unprovoked.

While lamenting that their father was shot dead during the raid, he urged the human rights organisations to help them get justice.

He narrated that: “They came to our house in the dead of the night and started shooting sporadically, shouting that they were security agencies.

“My father was unluckily shot while he was trying to climb down the stairs.

“They came looking for my brother who was being treated for the dislocation he suffered during his arrest.

“My brother escaped from the house miraculously that night and we have not seen him since then.”
