Man in Custody for Alleged Murder of 20-Year-Old Girlfriend

The Ogun State Police Command announced on Wednesday that it had apprehended a 29-year-old man, Jamiu Salihu, in connection with the murder of his alleged girlfriend, 20-year-old Temitope Elemide.

Elemide was reportedly raped and fatally stabbed on Sunday at her family’s residence in Bosero community, Olodo, Odeda Local Government Area of the state.

According to an anonymous source, the tragic incident occurred when assailants invaded Elemide’s home, taking advantage of her being alone to commit the heinous act.

The victim, who was preparing for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, met her untimely demise.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, SP Omolola Odutola, described it as a murder case reported to the police on Sunday.

Odutola disclosed that Jamiu Salihu, identified as the boyfriend of the deceased, had been arrested in connection with the alleged murder.

She stated, “There was a suspected murder report on February 25, from Odeda that they met a lifeless body of Elemide inside the room stabbed with a knife on her head and body. There is one Jamiu Salihu, 29 years old boyfriend, who is suspected to have committed the heinous crime. He was seen coming out from the bush on the said day of the crime.”

Odutola mentioned that a knife, two iron rods, and an Android Tecno phone were among the items recovered as evidence, with the victim’s body deposited in the morgue.
