Mangal Industry Donates ₦106 Million Worth of Medical and Social Amenities to Host Communities in Kogi

By Noah Ocheni, Lokoja

The Executive Director of Mangal Cement Industry, Iluhagba, in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Alhaji Nasiru Ladan, has announced that the company has donated items and executed community projects valued at N106 million for its host communities.

Speaking during an event on Thursday, Ladan described the initiative as part of Mangal Industry’s continued effort to improve the welfare and living standards of residents in its host communities.

He expressed appreciation to the communities for maintaining a cordial relationship with the company, which, according to him, has contributed to a peaceful and productive operational environment over the years.

“This gesture reflects our commitment under the Community Development Agreement (CDA) as stipulated in Section 116 of the 2007 Act,” Ladan said. “The CDA is a testament to Mangal Industry’s dedication to fostering harmonious relations with its host communities.”

Ladan explained that as part of the company’s CDA obligations, over N20 million worth of medical and educational materials have been distributed to Mopa and Iluhagba communities. These include medical equipment and drugs supplied to the Mopa General Hospital and educational materials for local students.

He further highlighted other completed projects, including:

– Installation of eight solar-powered boreholes across several communities—three in Iluhagba, one each in Odokoro, Agrigbon, and Iyara in Ijumu LGA, and one each in Ijagbe and Adogbe in Mopamuro LGA.
– Scholarship awards of N200,000 each to 20 tertiary institution students and 25 secondary school students.
– Payment of WAEC, NECO, and JAMB registration fees for deserving students across the host communities.

The General Manager of Administration and Human Resources, Dr. Umar Musa, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to sustaining development-focused initiatives that promote peaceful coexistence and mutual growth.

“With the current CDA set to lapse in 2028, Mangal Industry remains committed to reviewing and expanding its programs to meet emerging needs and address existing gaps,” Musa stated.

Beneficiaries of the company’s interventions expressed deep appreciation for Mangal Industry’s consistent support and commitment to improving education, healthcare, and access to clean water within the region.

“These projects have brought relief and hope to our communities,” one beneficiary remarked. “We are grateful for Mangal’s generosity and partnership.”

Mangal Cement Industry’s ongoing social responsibility initiatives underscore its role as a key stakeholder in community development and sustainability within Kogi State.
