…Exits Service Gracefully After Over Three Decades of Meritorious Service

The outgoing Permanent Secretary of the General Services Office (GSO), Dr. Maurice Nnamdi Mbaeri, FCA, NPoM, OON, has officially bowed out of the civil service, handing over responsibilities to Mohammed Sanusi Danjuma, FCNA, the current Permanent Secretary of the Special Services Office, who will now oversee the affairs of the GSO.

Dr. Mbaeri’s retirement marks the end of a distinguished career spanning over three decades in the Federal Civil Service.

At a handing-over ceremony held in Abuja, Dr. Mbaeri expressed full confidence in Danjuma’s capability to lead the office and urged fellow Permanent Secretaries to extend their full support to him in order to ensure a smooth transition and continued efficiency in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).

In a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen, Dr. Mbaeri expressed profound gratitude to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen. George Akume, CON, and the former SGF, Boss Mustapha, for the opportunity to serve under their leadership. He acknowledged the invaluable experiences gained during his five-year tenure and extended appreciation to fellow Permanent Secretaries—Dr. Aishetu Ndayako (Ecological Project Office), Engr. Gagare Nadungu (Political and Economic Affairs Office), and Mohammed Sanusi Danjuma (Special Services Office)—for their cooperation and camaraderie.

In his acceptance remarks, Danjuma praised Dr. Mbaeri as “a mentor par excellence,” commending his decades-long commitment and service to the nation. He assured Dr. Mbaeri that the Office would continue to consult him when necessary to draw from his wealth of experience.

He also expressed appreciation to SGF Akume and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, for entrusting him with the new responsibility. Danjuma called for continued collaboration from fellow Permanent Secretaries and the OSGF management team to ensure seamless operations and effective service delivery.

As part of the farewell celebrations, Dr. Mbaeri also marked his 60th birthday—a milestone that coincided with his retirement. The colorful event, held in Abuja, was attended by top government officials, Permanent Secretaries, management staff, and well-wishers who lauded his professionalism and dedication.
