“Mohbad’s Father Reveals How His Son Met His Wife at Naira Marley’s Record Label”

By Daniel Edu

Joseph Aloba, the father of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad, has shared the story of how his son met his wife, Wunmi, while at Naira Marley’s Marlian Music label. Mohbad tragically passed away on September 12, 2023, in Lagos State.

In this candid revelation, Mr. Aloba described Mohbad as a humble and down-to-earth individual. He explained that Mohbad and Wunmi had known each other since childhood in Oke-Iletu, Ikorodu, Lagos. However, it was at Naira Marley’s label that they reconnected, and at that time, there were no romantic ties between them.

Wunmi, Mohbad’s wife, is also the mother of their son, Liam.

Notably, a line from Mohbad’s 2020 song “Komajensun” hints at their reconnection, with the lyric “Naira lo gbe omo fun mi,” suggesting how their paths crossed again at Marlian Music.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s untimely death. Additionally, a Coroner’s inquest has been scheduled for October 13, 2023, to gather witness testimonies. Attorney Funmi Falana, representing Mohbad’s family, is determined to ensure justice is served and plans to present their witnesses during the proceedings.
