Comedienne Anita Afoke Asuoha, popularly known as Warri Pikin, has revealed how she nearly attempted suicide after following the advice of a motivational speaker. She shared her story on Instagram in observance of World Suicide Prevention Day, reflecting on the financial hardships she and her husband faced in 2018.
Warri Pikin disclosed that her husband fell into debt after being influenced by a motivational speaker to pursue various business ventures, leaving them with a staggering N22 million debt.
Recalling her experience, she wrote:
“I attempted suicide so you don’t have to. On June 6, 2018, at 3 p.m., I tried to take my own life. I had given up because the burden was too heavy. Life was hitting me from all sides, turning me around like a barber’s chair. I thought the only way to escape the pain was to end it.”
She went on to encourage her followers, reminding them that suicide is never the answer, and whatever challenges they face are temporary, not permanent.
Sharing photos of her and a woman named Irene C. Anaenye, Warri Pikin wrote:
“Area! Meet Irene C. Anaenye, the woman God used to save my life on June 6, 2018, at Garki Hospital.”
She also urged those battling suicidal thoughts to seek help, adding, “Suicide is making a permanent decision to a temporary problem.”
