N5.8bn Fraud: Reps plot to Impeach Osinbajo

Signatures are currently been compiled by some members of the House of Representatives to impeach Vice president Yemi Osinbajo over alleged miss-appropriation of N5.8 billion he approved for the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA, member representing Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency, Edo state, Honorable Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma, has raised the alarm.

He stated at a press conference in Abuja, that signatures were being collated for the impeachment of the Vice president and appealed to his colleagues to sheath the sword.

He said,” it has become necessary for me to add my voice to the call of many Nigerians on the purported campaign of calumny by some political gladiators and media houses (fake news) against the office and person of the Vice president of the federal republic of Nigeria Processor Yemi Osinbajo , SAN, on spurious allegations of corrupt practices levied against him’

Agbonayinma said he was “aware that signatures are being collated for the impeachment of the Vice President: the reason is that of the outcome of the NEMA investigation”

He explained that the issues raised on the NEMA probe had to do with misappropriation of funds by the Director-General and the day-day running of the agency as it relates to financial spendings, procurement processes among others.

The Edo lawmaker expressed concern over the development in the House and cautioned that even though his colleagues had discharged their Duties constitutionally, it was important that they do only those things that will promote peace, unity, and prosperity of the country.

“While commending my colleagues on the discharge of our constitutional duties, I am appealing to them to sheath their swords, ” he said

Continuing he added ” I urge us not to heat the polity as elections draw nearer, we must shun tendencies and actions that divide us, our campaigns and actions must be driven by issues and policies and not by prebendal politics ”
