Hamza Ibrahim Moyi, an aspirant for the chairmanship of Awe Local Government Area (LGA) under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has pledged to prioritize security if elected. With rising cases of kidnapping, banditry, and communal clashes, Moyi plans to leverage his strong ties with security agencies to tackle the growing insecurity in the region.
Speaking at the APC secretariat after officially declaring his candidacy on Wednesday, Moyi expressed concern over the fear residents have lived with. “Our people have lived in fear for too long,” he said. “I am committed to working closely with security agencies to restore peace in Awe, ensuring residents can live without the constant threat of violence and crime.”
Moyi believes that enhanced security will pave the way for further development in agriculture, infrastructure, and education. He emphasized the importance of agriculture, which is the backbone of Awe’s economy. “Our farmers are the lifeblood of this community, but they face challenges like outdated farming techniques and limited access to modern tools,” he noted. Moyi promised to prioritize training in modern farming methods and provide farmers with access to quality seeds, fertilizers, and markets to boost productivity.
He also highlighted the urgent need for infrastructure development. Moyi pointed out that poor road networks and a lack of access to basic services such as clean water and electricity have stunted the area’s growth. “Our people deserve better roads and reliable infrastructure,” Moyi said. “I will collaborate with relevant agencies to improve road conditions, connect communities, and invest in healthcare and water supply to improve the quality of life.”
On education, Moyi expressed concern about the underdevelopment of schools in the LGA. He vowed to upgrade educational facilities and improve access to quality education. “Education is key to our future, and many of our schools are in dire need of attention,” he said. “I will work tirelessly to ensure our children receive the education they deserve.”
Moyi also plans to secure funds from state and federal governments for literacy and vocational training programs, building on his experience as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Abdullahi Sule on sports. “I have provided scholarships to around 50 students and covered JAMB exam fees for over 500 students in the last four years,” he said.
In addition to his focus on development, Moyi vowed to boost Awe’s visibility on the state and national levels by promoting local tourism and cultural activities. “Awe has a rich culture that deserves to be showcased. We will organize events and festivals to highlight our cultural heritage, while also promoting youth entrepreneurship to drive economic growth,” he explained.
“My administration will attract investment, create job opportunities, and ensure that the community thrives. Together, we can make Awe a model of development and success,” Moyi concluded.
Residents of Awe are excited about Moyi’s vision, and his campaign has sparked hope for the positive changes he promises to deliver if elected chairman.
