Nasarawa Speaker tasks members – elect on performance, solicits support for Gov. Sule as retreat ends in Jos

A Three Day Retreat for Returning and New Members of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly has ended in Jos, the Plateau State Capital with a call on incoming members of the 7th Assembly in Nasarawa State to brace up and deliver on their mandate as expectations on them are very high.

Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, who made the call on Saturday at the closing of the workshop in Jos tasked members-elect to unite irrespective of religion, tribal and party differences for the task ahead of them.

Balarabe Abdullahi observed that out of the 24 members coming to the 7th Assembly in the State, only 9 are Old Ones while 15 are New Members, hence his call for commitment, unity and performance because there is high expectations from the electorates.

The State Number Three Citizen enjoined the lawmakers to ensure enhance synergy with the other arms of government and support Governor Abdullahi Sule in the interest of peace and speedy development of the State.

” I want to appeal to all of us to give our maximum support to Gov. Abdullahi Sule for the benefit of our people,” he said

The Speaker said members most bring their experience to bear, enact good laws, make resolutions and initiate programmes and projects that would have great impact on the lives of the entire citizens of the State positively.

” As we are preparing to take our oath of office come next month June, let’s have it in our mind that what our people expect from us is good laws and good resolutions that will have direct bearing on their lives and for the overall development of the State, and we most think outside the box to come up with new ideas and innovations on projects and programmes that will impact positively on our constituents “he said

He emphasized that the 6th Nasarawa State Assembly was rated the best second among the 36 State Assemblies in the Country in terms of performance, hence putting a great challenge to the 7th Assembly to ensure that it surpass such achievements.

Speaker Balarabe Abdullahi promised to carry every member along, operate an. open door policy and consolidate on his past achievements, if given another mandate.

The 3-day workshop which commenced Thursday came to an end today Saturday with the theme “Legislative Practice and Procedure” with participants to include Returning and New Members, Management Staff and Committee Secretaries sponsored by Nasarawa State Government in collaboration with Multichoice Ventures.

It would be reported that the workshop featured different papers presentations by Resources Persons.
