Nasarawa state to benefit from June 2021 Polish government scholarship – Ambassador Joanna

Poland Ambassador to Nigeria Joanna Tarnawska says Nasarawa state will benefit from the Republic of Poland scholarship programme before the end of June 2021.

Ambassador Joanna disclosed this when she played host to the Senior special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Nasarawa state liaison office Abuja Hon Yusuf Jibrin Maianguwa at the polish Embassy located at number 8 River Niger street Maitama Abuja, Monday.

She promised to release the details of Application to the SSA for interested candidates to apply for the scholarship which would be sponsored by the polish government adding that twelve students from Nasarawa state are currently enjoying the scholarship programme in Poland.

Ambassador Tarnawska further revealed that the partnership between Poland and Nasarawa state started during the regime of former Nigerian Ambassador to Poland Dr Samuel Wodi Jimba whom she described as a man of exceptional character.

While appreciating the visit by Yusuf Maianguwa, Joanna said the Republic of Poland is into partnership with Ethiopia and Nigeria in West Africa and Nasarawa state is the only State benefiting from Polish government educational and cultural exchange programmes through the state University Keffi.

According to her Poland university of Agriculture signed a memorandum of understanding with the state University Keffi which made it possible for the faculty of agriculture of the state university to get accreditation from National University commission NUC .

She equally stated that with the visit of the SSA Liaison office Abuja the polish goverment is willing to expand the existing partnership in agriculture technology and health especially in the treatment of chronic diabetes stressing that Poland is the fifth best economy in Europe and specialises on diary product and manufacturer of steyr tractors promising to visit Governor Abdullahi Sule in lafia, August 2021 to strengthen the Governor’s industrialization and investment development policies.

Earlier the senior special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Nasarawa state liaison office Abuja Hon Yusuf Jibrin Maianguwa said he has the mandate of his Boss to meet with the Poland Ambassador to Nigeria Joanna Tarnawska to discuss on how to strengthen the diplomatic ties between Poland and Nasarawa state Nigeria especially on Agriculture, Urban renewal, education and health.

He assured her of Governor Abdullahi Sule’s readiness to receive her in lafia the Nasarawa state capital pointing out that the Governor is doing everything possible in creating enabling environment for investors to have value for their money.

Maianguwa added that the state has developed its economic development blue print known as NEDS document which is yielding positive results.

The SSA was accompanied by the liaison office protocol officer Abdulhamid Musa Tanko and Dr ketso Nghargbu of Nasarawa state university Keffi who is a friend of the Poland Embassy and a member of Poland university Alumni.
