NBC Commends Alu Ya Gode FM/Alu TV for Professionalism, Code Compliance

By Muhammad Ibrahim, Sokoto

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) Sokoto Zonal Office has commended Alu Ya Gode FM and Alu TV Nigeria for their professionalism and strict adherence to the NBC broadcasting code.

The commendation was delivered by the NBC Zonal Director, Mr. Ladan Muhammad, during a familiarization visit to the stations in Sokoto.

Mr. Muhammad praised the stations for building a strong reputation in the media landscape and lauded their leadership for upholding ethical standards in broadcasting.

He advised the management to continue maintaining balance and fairness in reporting, avoid inflammatory or unfair remarks, and ensure their content consistently promotes peace and unity in Sokoto State.

Emphasizing the dynamic nature of the broadcasting industry, the Zonal Director highlighted the need for continuous training and retraining of staff to keep pace with technological advancements and digital broadcasting trends.

Speaking on the role of the Commission, Muhammad stated that the NBC is committed to regulating the broadcast industry in Nigeria by ensuring compliance with the national broadcasting code and promoting local content development.

He outlined some of the commission’s core responsibilities, including:

  • Issuing broadcast licenses
  • Monitoring and regulating content to align with national security, morality, and social harmony
  • Enforcing penalties for non-compliance, such as fines, suspensions, or license revocations

He noted that the Sokoto Zonal Office is one of several NBC regional offices, with the mandate to oversee broadcasting regulation in the North-West geopolitical zone.

The visit, he said, is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration between the Commission and media organizations in the region.
