The Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) in Zaria has requested approval from the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, to initiate a drone training program. This announcement was made by Mrs. Stella Nwankwo, Assistant Chief Planning Officer at NCAT, during the 4th Drone Technology Conference and Exhibition at Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos.
Nwankwo revealed that all necessary arrangements have been completed for the drone training program to commence. “We have trained instructors ready for a seamless launch of the course at the college,” she stated.
She also highlighted the various educational programs offered by NCAT, which include Post Graduate Diplomas (PGD) in aviation management available part-time in Lagos and Abuja, as well as Ordinary National Diploma (OND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) in engineering courses offered at the Zaria campus.
In response, Dr. Emmanuel Meribole, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, urged the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to expedite the certification process needed for NCAT to begin drone training.
This initiative reflects NCAT’s commitment to expanding its educational offerings and aligning with the growing demand for drone technology expertise in Nigeria.
