Following the outbreak of Cholera in Agatu and Guma Local Government Areas of Benue State, a team from the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), has arrived the state to get an on-the-spot assessment of the epidemic with the aim to tackle it.

The team leader, Dr. Okechukwu Ukande said they were in the state to support the state government, using the incident management structure, and also identify gaps in order to feel them.

Dr. Ukande lauded the state government for proactive handling of the Cholera Outbreak in the two local government areas. The NCDC donated consumables such as gloves, water guards, Oral Rehydration Salts, ORS, among other items.

Earlier in his remarks while receiving the team, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services in the state, Dr Joseph Ngbea, appreciated the NCDC over its timely intervention.

He contended that the Benue State Government has stepped up efforts to reduce the spread of the disease, which he said has claimed many lives.
