The Kano State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested 75-year-old Nuhu Baba in connection with drug trafficking during an anti-drug operation in Tumbau Village, Gezawa Local Government Area.

In a press statement on Tuesday, the agency’s spokesman, Sadiq Maigatari, announced that the operation led to the recovery of several illicit substances, including Tramadol, Cannabis Sativa, Diazepam, Exol-5, and Rubber Solution.

According to Maigatari, Nuhu Baba admitted during the investigation that he had been involved in the drug trade for the past two years to sustain his livelihood. The case underscores that drug trafficking and substance abuse are issues that can affect individuals across all age groups—even the elderly.

The NDLEA emphasized its ongoing commitment to combating drug-related crimes and called on community members to play an active role in reporting suspicious activities. Kano State Commander Abubakar Idris-Ahmad reiterated this plea for public vigilance, stressing that cooperation between citizens and law enforcement is crucial in the fight against drug trafficking.

Both officials affirmed that the recent arrest serves as a reminder of the widespread impact of drug abuse and the need for a collective effort to ensure public safety.
