The State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command, CN AI Ahmad, received a courtesy visit from the Commissioner of Police, Kano Police Command, CP AI Bakori, Tuesday 15th April, 2025.
The meeting emphasized the commitment of both agencies to collaborate effectively in ensuring the safety and security of the Kano State community.
During their discussions, CN AI Ahmad and CP AI Bakori reiterated their shared objectives in combating substance abuse, crime and enhancing public safety.
They recognized the importance of synergy between NDLEA and the Police in addressing the challenges posed by drug-related offenses and other criminal activities in the state.
Commander Ahmad stated, “Our collective efforts are crucial in creating a safer environment for the people of Kano and by working together, we can leverage our resources and expertise to tackle the issues that threaten our communities.”
Bakori echoed this sentiment, highlighting the need for continuous collaboration.
“The fight against drug abuse and trafficking is a shared responsibility. The partnership between the NDLEA and the Police is vital for maintaining law and order, and we are committed to strengthening this relationship.”
The meeting concluded with the exchange of mementos as a symbol of their commitment to effective collaboration.
In a significant gesture of appreciation, the State Commander decorated Commissioner Bakori as a War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) Ambassador, recognizing his dedication to the fight against drug abuse and his role in promoting community safety.
Following this meeting, CN AI Ahmad also received the Area Controller of the Nigerian Customs Service, Kano/Jigawa Area Command, Comptroller Dalhat Abubakar .
During this visit, Comptroller Abubakar emphasized the critical need for collaboration among law enforcement agencies to effectively combat smuggling and other cross-border crimes that contribute to drug trafficking and insecurity in the region.
Comptroller Abubakar noted, “The challenges we face today require a united front. By sharing intelligence and resources, we can significantly enhance our operational effectiveness.
The Customs Service is committed to working closely with the NDLEA and the Police to ensure that we tackle these issues head-on and protect our communities.”
He further highlighted the importance of joint training programs and coordinated operations to address the multifaceted nature of drug-related crimes and trafficking.
“Together, we can create a comprehensive strategy that not only addresses the immediate concerns but also fosters long-term solutions for a safer Kano State.”
