New Green Empowerment Initiative Visits Sokoto Education Ministry

By Muhammad Ibrahim, Sokoto

The New Green Empowerment Initiative (NGEI) has paid a courtesy visit to the Sokoto State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education to present a proposal on digital capacity building for teachers.

The delegation, led by Idris Abdulkarim, National Executive Director of NGEI (Sokoto State Zonal Office), was received by the Director of Administration, Abubakar Umar Salame, who represented the Commissioner, Professor Ahmad Ladan Ala. Abdulkarim highlighted the organisation’s plan to train teachers in computer appreciation, computer-based test skills, and digitalized teaching and learning processes.

Responding, Salame welcomed the team and commended their forward-thinking approach. He described the proposal as timely and important for enhancing digital literacy among teachers. He further assured the delegation that the Ministry would carefully review and consider the proposal for possible implementation.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on the expected impact of the training on teaching standards and overall educational outcomes in the state.

As part of the visit, NGEI also donated 100 date palm seedlings to the Ministry to support environmental sustainability and promote tree planting within the ministry’s premises.
