*LAGOS* – The recently deployed Commissioner of Police to the Lagos State Police Command, Adegoke Fayoade, has officially assumed duty, according to a statement from Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer.

Fayoade takes over from Idowu Owohunwa, who was recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police and redeployed to the AIG Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, Lagos.

Adegoke Fayoade, an indigene of Ila-Orangun in Osun State, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having joined the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992. He holds educational qualifications, including a Bachelor of Arts in Education/History from Lagos State University, a Master of Public Administration from the University of Lagos, and an LLB from the National Open University of Nigeria.

Fayoade has undergone various training courses at prestigious institutions both at home and abroad, focusing on criminal justice administration, community policing ethos, leadership, and senior management. Notably, he was a two-time winner of the Best Divisional Police Officer in Africa, receiving awards in The Hague, Netherlands, and Nairobi, Kenya, in 2007 and 2013.

The statement highlighted his distinguished service in previous postings, including Commandant of the Police Training College in Ondo State, Area Commander of the Ota Area Command in Ogun State, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Maritime Command, Lagos, among others.

Upon his promotion to the rank of Commissioner of Police in September 2022, Fayoade was deployed as CP Armament, Force Headquarters, Abuja, and later attended the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, earning the title Member of the National Institute (mni) in December 2023.

The statement urged residents of Lagos to provide maximum support to CP Fayoade in his role of ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in the state.
