Senator Engr. Nweze David Umahi, Minister of Works, has extended warm New Year greetings to Nigerians, calling for optimism, productivity, and renewed commitment to national development as the country ushers in 2026. In his message, Umahi thanked God for the grace of the new year, emphasizing the opportunities and possibilities it brings for personal growth, professional achievements, and community engagement.“
As a new year of fresh starts and new beginnings, I see inspiring possibilities in the opportunities and challenges of your personal vocations through God who strengthens us,” he said. “Yes, challenges will come, but they should be viewed as opportunities for growth and transformation, helping us develop new skills and achieve better versions of ourselves.”The minister highlighted the importance of focus, discipline, and collaboration, urging Nigerians to navigate challenges with resilience while staying committed to their aspirations and responsibilities to one another.
Speaking on the Federal Ministry of Works’ priorities, Umahi outlined plans to enhance the Renewed Hope agenda on road infrastructure. He emphasized intensified monitoring and supervision to accelerate the construction of new projects and the rehabilitation of existing federal roads nationwide. He commended the Ministry’s management and staff for their dedication, tenacity, and unwavering commitment to revitalizing Nigeria’s road network. “I am grateful for their strength of character and unshakable zeal to revamp Nigeria’s road infrastructure, and I look forward to further cooperation in 2026,” Umahi added.
The Minister also acknowledged the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, highlighting the President’s innovative funding mechanisms, policy reforms, and private sector engagement in the development of durable road infrastructure. Umahi praised these interventions for ensuring that roads constructed or rehabilitated under the administration meet high standards of quality and longevity.
