Nigeria Aims for 30GW Grid Energy Supply by 2030

Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has revealed that the country is committed to achieving universal energy access by 2060, with a short-term goal of reaching 30GW of grid energy supply by 2030. This plan includes a 30% renewable energy mix under the government’s Vision 30:30:30 initiative.

In a statement posted on the Ministry of Power’s media platform on Thursday, Adelabu made the announcement during the China-Nigeria Economic Cooperation and Trade Conference in Beijing, China.

“In Nigeria, we are committed to achieving universal energy access by 2060, with a short-term target under our Vision 30:30:30 to reach 30GW of grid energy supply, with 30% coming from renewable sources by 2030,” Adelabu stated. He emphasized that these ambitious goals create new opportunities for collaboration between Nigeria and China’s investment community to expand cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions.

To achieve these targets, the Nigerian government has adopted a comprehensive strategy to address challenges across the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry. This includes streamlining legislative and policy frameworks, attracting public and private investment, promoting technological innovation, and building strategic partnerships.

Adelabu expressed optimism about the potential of the China-Nigeria Economic Forum to strengthen existing collaborations and explore new avenues for shared prosperity.
