**Nigeria Spends Over $1.5bn on Oil Installations Protection – SGF**

The Federal Government has expressed concern over a report by the Nigerian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI), revealing over $46 billion worth of crude oil theft between 2009 and 2020.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) George Akume highlighted that the House of Representatives had established a special committee, led by the Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Upstream, Ado Doguwa, to investigate these significant losses in the oil and gas sector.

Additionally, Speaker of the House Tajudeen Abbas, represented by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, disclosed that $10 billion has been lost to crude oil theft in the past seven months, noting that such losses cannot be easily remedied.
