Nigerians Share Mixed Reactions to Burna Boy’s New Album “I Told Them”

By  Milcah  Tanimu

Burna Boy’s highly anticipated album, “I Told Them,” has made its debut, igniting a flurry of responses from Nigerians across the country. As anticipation built up even before the album’s release, fans and critics alike flocked to various platforms to express their thoughts on the latest musical offering. Twitter, in particular, was a hub of activity, with reactions ranging from excitement to introspection.

Umehjoy_ observed, “Burna sampled Jeremih’s ‘Birthday Sex’ in ‘City Boys.’ I knew that beat was familiar.”

Reesemach shared, “It seems like #ITOLDTHEM will grow on us. It didn’t immediately capture my attention when I first played it, but I’ll let it develop on me.”

Ace_monie246 enthused, “Burna Boy is giving me goosebumps. Both #ITOLDTHEM and #BurnaBoy are fantastic. You’re truly exceptional.”

Winco_3 celebrated, “The morning after Burna Boy dropped his 7th studio album, the greatest African album of 2023, an album with substance! #TOLDTHEM.”

Blacksherif_1 emphasized, “Burna Boy is truly emerging as the best African artist right now. He’s the only one who consistently delivers a perfect 10/10 album without any skips in recent years. Others may attempt to hype their artists, but Odogwu’s creations speak for themselves. #|TOLDTHEM.”

Soloba expressed surprise, “What is this music? I’m amazed here. Burna Boy’s ‘City Boys’ is extraordinary.”

Kelechicollins13 raved, “What an album! Every track is a hit from start to finish. An album that kept me awake until almost 5 am.”

Danny_ben joked, “As soon as Drake realized that Burna Boy was about to release #ITOLDTHEM, he paused his own album.”

Rooneytoldthem noted, “After the release of ‘I TOLD THEM,’ many fans have suddenly gone quiet. It seems like the FC (Fans Club) might have gone extinct. Thank you, Burna Boy.”

Kayce pointed out, “Now that I’ve heard the full song, ‘City Boys’ is hitting even harder.”

The release of Burna Boy’s album certainly evoked a wide spectrum of opinions and emotions among Nigerians, reflecting the diversity of musical tastes and preferences in the country.
