Nigeria’s Greatest Stars Gather for National Theatre Festival of Unity in Lagos

Lagos is set to host a historic gathering of local and international entertainers as the National Theatre Festival of Unity kicks off on December 13–14, 2024. The highly anticipated event, themed “Rebranding Boundless Opportunities: A New Era of Unity and Inclusivity,” will take place at the iconic National Theatre in Lagos.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr. Yunusa Mohammed, described the festival as a platform for fostering unity through cultural exchange and showcasing Nigeria’s rich diversity. “The National Theatre Festival of Unity is aimed at promoting better understanding among Nigerians and evolving improved national unity,” Mohammed said.

Spectacular Lineup and Highlights

This year’s event, tagged NATFU 2024, promises to be the most exciting edition yet. The festival will feature:

  • Cultural Parade: A vibrant display of Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups.
  • Theatre Performances: Appearances by renowned theatre personalities.
  • Live Concert: Performances by emerging and established artists from around the world.
  • Short Film Screenings: Films addressing societal issues and inspiring positive change.
  • Roundtable Discussions: Industry experts from theatre, music, film, and art sectors will discuss cultural rebranding as a driver for inclusivity, economic growth, and innovation.

According to Mohammed, “The festival will bring Nigeria’s greatest stars and young talents together to showcase music, spoken word, dance, and theatre, creating unforgettable moments for attendees.”
