NIMASA donates teaching, learning equipment for basic education in Taraba

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has donated learning materials for pupils in basic schools in Taraba

Dr. Bashir Jamoh, Director General of the agency, while presenting the items on Thursday in Jalingo said that the gesture was part of the agency’s efforts to support the education of children in the state.

During the distribution of the items to the students and the Clinic by both NIMASA and SEMA officials in Jalingo, Mr Anthony Danu, Director of Relief, Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (TASEMA) noted that inadequate provision of teaching and learning equipment in public schools in was a major challenge for basic education in the state.

He listed some of the equipment to include; desktop computers, printers, white board, markers, assorted textbooks, writing materials, exercise books, food flasks, school bags, sandals and sucks, among many other items.

The Director General also said that the agency had procured medical equipment to boost primary health care services in the state.

He advised benefiting clinics to administer the equipment to enhance health care to the indigent people.

Presenting the learning materials to Hawai Local Education Authority in Mile-Six, a suburb of Jalingo, Jamoh said that the gesture was part of it’s Corporate Social Responsibility to the state.

“This is part of the Agency’s ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative across the 36 states of the Federation and the FCT.

“If we succeed in helping to ensure that some students improve academically, we would have made a difference.

“We appeal that the materials donated today be used judiciously to give the children the best,’ Jamoh said.

In his remark, Mallam Sa’ad Yakubu, Head Master of the school thanked NIMASA for it’s support to primary education in the state.

Yakubu gave assurance that the school would judiciously utilize the items to achieve the goals it were meant for.

He also said that the items would go along way in supporting the school in it’s day to day teaching and learning.

Daybreak News reports that the director general also presented medical equipment to Primary Health Care Center in Mile-Six.

Some of the equipment donated were stetescope, clinical thermometer, pulse tester, delivery kits, hand sanitizers, beds and bedsheets, drip stand among others.

Mrs Esther Audu, Head of the clinic thanked NIMASA for the donation.

Audu assured of the judicious use of the equipment for the benefit of the local community.
