“Nollywood Actor Voices Frustrations: Colleagues Earn Millions, Yet Fail to Pay for My Basic Needs”

In a viral video online, an unidentified Nollywood actor opens up about the hardships he faced in the industry, leading him to quit acting. The Igbo actor shared his experiences during an interview with @skibocomedy7, shedding light on the meager pay he received for his roles.

He revealed that some of his colleagues engage in fraudulent practices, promising a job worth ten thousand Naira but paying only one thousand Naira upon completion, with the assurance that the remaining sum will be transferred later. Unfortunately, these promises often go unfulfilled, leaving him with inadequate compensation.

The actor expressed his frustration with the lack of concern shown by producers and fellow actors for the well-being of struggling colleagues. He pointed out that while some of them make millions from jobs uploaded on YouTube channels, they fail to pay him even for basic necessities like food, especially for the movies in which he features.

The financial strain became unbearable, and he found himself borrowing money for meals and to pursue acting opportunities. This situation ultimately compelled him to give up on such low-paying jobs in the industry.

In his native Igbo language, he lamented, “You would be called for a job worth N10k, but after completing it, they give you only N1k, assuring you that the remaining payment will be sent to your account, which never happens. This is why I decided to give up on such jobs.”

He also criticized the system where actors and producers profit from his hard work but neglect his basic needs, leaving him to cover expenses by borrowing money even for meals needed during shoots.
