Normalcy in Kaduna as Residents Ignore #October1Fearless Protest

Residents of Kaduna State went about their daily routines unaffected by the planned #October1Fearless protest, showing little interest in participating in the demonstration.

Despite some initial concerns, businesses across the metropolis and surrounding areas operated as usual, with the Sheikh Abubakar Gumi Central Market remaining open. While some residents observed the Independence Day holiday quietly, many continued with their regular activities.

Security personnel, including the police, civil defence, and Department of State Services, were visibly stationed at key locations such as Narayi High Cost, Barnawa Complex, and Stadium Roundabout to maintain order.

The Coalition of Concerned Citizens of Kaduna State had previously distanced itself from the protests, advocating for constructive engagement over disruptive actions. The group praised government initiatives, including the establishment of skill acquisition centers, and encouraged citizens to participate in local government elections to bring about meaningful change.

The #October1Fearless protest, organized by a coalition of civil society groups to highlight national issues such as economic inequality, social injustice, and political repression, did not appear to gain momentum in Kaduna.
