North-Central APC Forum Issues Ultimatum to Plateau APC Over Green Cap Movement

By Israel Adamu, Jos

The North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has given the Rufus Bature-led Plateau State APC executive committee a seven-day ultimatum to establish a reconciliation committee and open the party’s doors to members from other political parties.

The ultimatum follows the Plateau APC exco’s rejection of the Forum’s adoption of the Green Cap Movement for the 2027 Plateau gubernatorial election. The Green Cap Movement, associated with Governor Caleb Mutfwang, was endorsed by the Forum in Jos last Friday.

Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, Chairman of the North-Central APC Forum, said the decision was made during an expanded stakeholders’ meeting, also reaffirming support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

“We adopted the Green Cap Movement because we believe the time is now. Though Governor Mutfwang is currently with the PDP, we acknowledge his good work and want to support his excellence. We also endorse President Bola Tinubu for a second term because he is doing extremely well,” Zazzaga said.

However, the Rufus Bature-led Plateau APC exco condemned the adoption and warned of “stringent measures” against the group.

In response, the North-Central APC Forum demanded the Plateau APC exco withdraw its statement and called for genuine inclusivity within the party, particularly for elders and stakeholders often sidelined.

“We are giving the Bature-led exco seven days to set up a reconciliation committee and allow members from other political parties to join APC freely. The party belongs to everyone, not a few individuals,” the Forum said.

The Forum dismissed claims that it was unregistered, clarifying it is officially recognized nationally and comprised of key regional stakeholders.

Criticizing the Plateau APC exco for failing to deliver votes for President Tinubu in 2023, the Forum highlighted its own commitment to the party’s success and accused the exco of protecting personal interests.

The group also refuted allegations that the Green Cap Movement is a PDP symbol, explaining it represents a call for urgent reform and leadership accountability — principles the Forum claims the Plateau APC exco has failed to uphold.

“We continue to urge Governor Mutfwang to join APC and align with President Tinubu, as this is in the best interest of Plateau State,” the Forum added.

Despite opposition, the North-Central APC Forum remains steadfast, warning that intimidation will not deter their mission to advance APC’s interests in the region.
