Christian leaders in Northern Nigeria have expressed deep sorrow over the death of Alhaji Ibrahim Kufena, Secretary of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), in Kaduna State.
The General Overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, Pastor Yohanna Buru, described the news as a shock, noting he first learned of the passing through JNI’s Chief Imam, Sheikh Ilyasu Husaine.
Pastor Buru paid tribute to Kufena as a peace advocate who devoted his life to promoting tolerance and religious harmony. He stressed that Kufena’s efforts in interfaith dialogue left a lasting impact both in Nigeria and beyond. “This is a great loss, not only to Kaduna State but to the entire nation. He was a true bridge-builder between faith communities,” Buru said. He added that he would visit the family to offer condolences and prayers.
Evangelist Rowland Sanda also sympathised with the bereaved family, praying for God’s mercy on the deceased. Pastor George John described Kufena as a respected role model in peacebuilding and interfaith harmony, extending condolences to both his family and the Kaduna State Government.
Until his death, Alhaji Ibrahim Kufena served JNI with distinction and was widely respected for his commitment to unity and peaceful coexistence.
