Governors of the Northern States in the country have been implored to emulate their Southern Counterparts who recently banned Open Grazing in the region.
Former Senator who represented Benue North West in the red Chamber of National Assembly, Sen. Fred Orti made the call in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
Sen. Orti enjoined them to embrace ranching which according to him is the best global practice in rearing of animals, pointing out that this would put to rest the incessant clashes between farmers and herders.
The former Lawmaker maintained that the resolution by the Governors of the Southern States was an attestation that majority of Nigerians have realized that ranching of cattles is the best way to do it.
Sen. Orti asserted that the system if embraced, would not only end conflicts between the aforesaid ethnic Nationalities, but would ensure food sustainability of the country. Ends
