NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko Pledges Support for Senator Lalong’s Grassroots Sports Development Initiative

The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, has assured Senator Simon Bako Lalong, representing Plateau South Senatorial District, of the Commission’s full support in his efforts to develop grassroots sports, aimed at empowering youths and identifying emerging talents within his constituency.

Dikko made this pledge while receiving Senator Lalong during a courtesy visit to the National Sports Commission Headquarters in Abuja.

Reflecting on his long-standing relationship with Senator Lalong, Dikko acknowledged the support and partnership he received from him during his tenure as Governor of Plateau State, which contributed significantly to Plateau United’s successes at both national and continental football tournaments.

“I have great respect for Senator Lalong as a dedicated sports enthusiast, sponsor, and mentor. His commitment to grassroots sports development is commendable, as it provides opportunities for youths, helping them stay away from poverty, idleness, and negative vices,” Dikko stated.

He further commended Senator Lalong for his sponsorship of grassroots sporting events, including local wrestling and boxing competitions held in Shendam and QuanPan Local Government Areas of Plateau State.

Senator Lalong’s Commitment to Sports Development

Earlier, Senator Lalong congratulated Shehu Dikko on his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing it as well deserved given his vast contributions to sports development in Nigeria.

He expressed gratitude for the support and collaboration he received from Dikko, particularly in advancing football development in Plateau State during his tenure as governor.

The senator assured the NSC Chairman of his continued support and collaboration through legislative initiatives and other strategic efforts to ensure the success of the National Sports Commission’s mandate.
