NSCDC Osun Command celebrates international day of peace.

The Management of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Osun state Command joined the rest of the world to commemorate the year 2021 International Day of Peace with the theme: Recovering Better for an equitable and Sustainable World.

The programme which was held at the State headquarters started in the morning with Peace Walk within Osogbo Metropolis, visited the Palace of Ataoja of Osogbo and thereafter continued in the Cooperative Hall with Lectures and Investiture of Peace Ambassadors Award on HRM Oba Moses Oluwafemi Agunsoye Abikehin Ekun Agunsoye II, The Elegboro of Ijebu-Jesa, HRM Oba Akeem Olusayo King Ogungbangbe, Ajagbusi-Ekun, Owaloko of Iloko-Ijesa and Mr Donald Obiora Ike, for the roles they played to make peace reign in their different locality.

Speaking on the 2021 International Peace day, the Osun state helmsman, Commandant Emmanuel Ocheja focused more on the importance of peace in the country, saying there is nothing compared with the word peace stressing that Peace in the country starts from different homes.

Commandant Ocheja explained further that Peace is beyond human comprehension adding that peace is sacrosanct to human existence.

While delivering the Welcome Address the head of Peace and Conflict Management in the state Command, Assistant Commandant Abere Oluwafemi said the effect of covid-19 on the economy could only be overcome in the atmosphere of peace and sustainable implementation of government policies.

The first Speaker at the Seminar, the Medical Director of Mercy Hospital, Dr Onifade Abdulfatai,Immunology Consultant UCH, Ibadan centred his presentation on recovering better after Covid-19 for a sustainable World.

He encouraged citizens to obey covid 19 protocol and take food that boost the immune system.

The event recorded a great turnout of Obas, Artisans, the officials of Justice Development and Peace Maker Commission (JDPMC),
secondary school students and others.

Dr John Agbonifo,Director Global Affairs and Sustainable Development Institute, Osun State University represented by Oluwaseun Famoroti and Dayo Nigeria spoke on the importance of building strong institutions to effect policies that will improve the livelihood of Nigerians.

They called on the populace not to take laws into their hands and desist from inflicting untold hardship on disadvantaged Nigerians.
