NUJ Condoles with Sokoto SSG After Tragic Fire Claims Lives of Daughter, Grandchildren, and House Help

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Sokoto State Council, has extended heartfelt condolences to the Secretary to the Sokoto State Government (SSG), Alhaji Muhammad Bello Sifawa, over the devastating loss of his daughter, three grandchildren, and a house help in a tragic fire incident. The heartbreaking event occurred in the early hours of Monday at their residence.

In a joint statement, the NUJ Chairman, Usman Muhammad Binji, and Secretary, Muhammad Nasir Bello, described the incident as a divine occurrence, emphasizing its painful impact on the immediate family and the people of Sokoto State.

The NUJ also expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved husband, Alhaji Muhammadu Yusuf Bello, Permanent Secretary at the Sokoto State Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, and other members of the extended family.

Additionally, the Union offered its condolences to Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, and the entire people of Sokoto State, mourning this irreparable loss.

The NUJ prayed for Allah’s mercy on the departed souls and sought divine strength and fortitude for the grieving family during this challenging time.

The victims of the fire, which started around 3:00 a.m., were identified as Rabi’atu Bello Sifawa, daughter of the SSG; her three children, Fatimatu Bello Yusuf, Maryam Bello Yusuf, and Abubakar Sadik Bello Yusuf; and the house help, Aishatu Muhammad.

The deceased have since been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.

May their souls rest in perfect peace.
