NUJ Rolls Out Activities To Mark Press Week In Kogi

The Chairman, kogi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ), Comrade Adeiza Momohjimoh on Tuesday in Lokoja said the Union has concluded arrangements towards its 2023 press week.

The Press week will include Public presentation of a Book Launch, Lecture, Media Awards and other excitement programmes.

Speaking ta the press conference held at the press centre, Lokoja, the chairman said the press week will begins with Muslim Prayer on Friday, 11th August, 2023 while the Christian prayer will be held on Sunday, 13th August, 2023 and will also focus on crucial issues of national importance.

Comrade Momohjimoh who stated that the the exercise will be the last lap activities of the current administration said the grand finale is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 16th August, 2023 saying that as part of the programme there will be a public presentation of a book titled: MEDIA DEVELOPMENT IN KOGI STATE (1991- 2023).

According to him, “The book is essentially put together to give an overview account of how the media industry has fared in Kogi State since its creation. The 324 page book will be most useful to Communications students in the tertiary institutions and it will as well be very useful to Journalists, media researchers and the reading public”, he stressed.

Comrade Momohjimoh further stated that the State Governor, Alhaji Dr. Yahaya Adoza Bello, CON will be the distinguished guest of honour while the Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Associate Professor Salish Ogbo is the Chairman of the occassion.

He said the Chief host is naturally the versatile National President of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Chief Chris Isiguzo while the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Evangelist Kingsley Fanwo will serve as co-host.

The chairman also said In the culture of the union to encourage individuals who are impacting positively on their various communities and people in the state, said the union has carefully selected six notable Kogites for the Union awards.

They are: Olu Ade of Ekinrin-Adde, HRM. Olu Anthony Bamgbaiye, CON. and renowned Chartered Account, the member representing Ajaokuta Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Sanni Egidi Abdulraheem, Alhaji Ahmed Omeiza Abdullahi OON, a retired Director, State Security Services and Engineer Isezuo Edward Jatto, a renowned Broadcast Engineer and MD/CEO Jatto FM, Okene,

Others are, Dr. Arome Salifu, Chief Executive Officer, Africa Youth Growth Foundation, Engineer Idah Daikwo of the Federal Ministry of Works, Abuja.

He however enjoined all members, friends of the media in the state and beyond and general public to attend the epoch-making occasion.
