The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Sokoto State Council, has approved the constitution of its Ethics and Disciplinary Committee in line with Article 7(c) of the NUJ Constitution.
A statement signed by the Council Chairman, Usman Muhammad Binji, and Secretary, Muhammad Bello Nasir, named the committee members as follows: Isah Abubakar Shuni (Information Chapel) – Chairman; Habibu Harisu (Correspondents Chapel) – Secretary; Ibrahim Abubakar Ladan (RTV Sokoto) – Member; Abubakar Isah Sokoto (Rima Radio Sokoto) – Member; and Onuminya Innocent (Correspondents Chapel) – Member.
The statement added that the committee will be inaugurated during the forthcoming congress of the union, scheduled for 23rd August, 2025.
In a related development, the Council also approved the constitution of the Safety and Protection of Journalists Committee, in line with Article 2 of the NUJ Constitution.
The members are: Abdallah Elkurebe (Correspondents Chapel) – Chairman; Nura Haliru (Rima Radio Sokoto) – Secretary; Dahiru Kwamberu (RTV Sokoto) – Member; Lawali Salihu Sabon Birni (NTA Sokoto) – Member; Aminu Suleiman (The Path Newspaper) – Member; Nura Bello Maikwanci (Information Chapel) – Member; Musa Yusuf Sanyinna (Vision FM Sokoto) – Member; Murjanatu Magaji (The Path Newspaper) – Member; Yakubu Ayuba Gidan Igwai (Rima Radio Sokoto) – Member; Abbas Tukur Sanyinna (Rima Radio Sokoto) – Member; and Abbas Salihu (Vision FM Sokoto) – Member.
According to the statement, the committee will also be inaugurated during the union’s congress on 23rd August, 2025.
