Obasanjo and Sanusi Criticize Buhari’s Economic Policies and Governance

By  Milcah  Tanimu

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the 14th Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, have voiced their criticism of the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari. They have highlighted concerns about Nigeria’s economy and governance during Buhari’s tenure.

Obasanjo criticized Buhari’s handling of the economy, stating that the former president was a reckless spender. He compared his own efforts to secure debt relief during his time in office with Buhari’s financial management, asserting that Buhari’s economic decisions were imprudent.

Sanusi expressed his dismay at the state of Nigeria’s economy under Buhari’s leadership, describing it as leading a false life. He expressed concern about the economic challenges facing the country during that period.

Obasanjo also commented on the increasing number of military coups in Africa, highlighting the rise of a new phenomenon in the continent. He emphasized that the liberal democracy imported from Western countries might not be suitable for Africa and suggested the need for a reevaluation of democratic systems in the context of African societies.

Buhari’s response to these criticisms is not mentioned in the provided information.
