Oborevwori Urges PDP Leadership to Win Over Opposition for Future Elections

By Anne Azuka

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has called on the new leadership of the state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to intensify efforts in recruiting members from opposition parties to strengthen the party’s position for upcoming elections.

Governor Oborevwori gave this charge on Sunday during the thanksgiving service for the Delta South PDP Chairman, Chief Emman Amgbaduba, at Living Faith Church, Udu. Represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, Oborevwori emphasized the benefits of political unity under one umbrella.

Governor’s Call for Unity

The governor highlighted the significance of PDP’s dominance in Delta State, urging party members to work on reintegrating those in opposition parties.

“Delta is PDP, and PDP is Delta State,” Oborevwori stated. “We must strive to bring back those in other political parties. When united under one political platform, Deltans will enjoy greater benefits.”

Using the metaphor of a broom, he underscored the strength in unity, saying, “A single broom can be broken easily, but a bunch of brooms is unbreakable. Let us stay united as Deltans and as PDP members.”

He further encouraged members to remain positive, supportive of government initiatives, and prayerful, emphasizing, “We have a God of miracles.”

Progress Under the MORE Agenda

Governor Oborevwori reassured attendees of his administration’s commitment to delivering on the MORE Agenda, which includes extensive development in infrastructure and employment.

“Delta is a praying state, and that is why we are witnessing progress. With God’s guidance, we have delivered more roads, bridges, and employment opportunities for teachers, ensuring a peaceful and thriving state,” he said.

The governor also praised Chief Amgbaduba for his successful assumption of office, describing the occasion as a testament to God’s power.

A Sermon of Rejoicing

Delivering the sermon, Pastor Kolawole Oniwinde reminded Christians of the importance of maintaining joy in their lives.

“Joy secures health, vitality, and access to God’s presence. It is the divine security every child of God needs,” Oniwinde stated.

He urged believers to stay joyful by nurturing their faith, remaining hopeful, and living a born-again life.

The event marked a celebration of leadership and faith, with a call for unity and progress as guiding principles for the PDP and the people of Delta State.
