Worried over an upsurge in security situation in Benue State, Governor Samuel Ortom has held a closed door meeting with his predecessors, the Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Sen George Akume and Senator representing Benue North East Senatorial District, Sen Gabriel Suswam to tackle insecurity in the state.
The meeting of the trio has put paid to the rumor being peddled the round that Governor Ortom and Senator Akume have drawn a battle line since Akume lost his bid to make it to the Senate for the fourth time.
Governor Ortom who briefed Journalists shortly after the meeting which held at the Government House Makurdi, maintained that they discussed ways to stamp out criminality, banditry, insurgency, armed Herdsmen, kidnapping as well as cult related activities.
He averred that Benue State belongs to all and it was incumbent on all the leaders to secure the land for future generations.
The Governor posited that the meeting observed among other things that the Fulanis had misinterpreted the Anti Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law, hence the need to educate, sensitize and create awareness on the content of the law.
