Outrage as Naira Marley Takes a Jab at Late Mohbad in Zinoleesky’s New Song

Controversial singer Naira Marley is facing fresh backlash for a perceived jab at his late ex-signee, Mohbad, in Zinoleesky’s newly released song. The release comes shortly after the one-year remembrance of Mohbad’s untimely death, which remains under investigation with no conclusive outcome.

In the song titled *Abanikanda*, featuring Naira Marley, the Marlian Records boss made a statement that many critics found insensitive. The lyric in question refers to Mohbad, suggesting that he was an “opposition” (a term that can also mean “enemy”) who should be left in the casket.

“Leave that opp boy inna casket,” Naira Marley said, sparking outrage from fans of the late singer. The comment has been widely condemned as an insensitive remark and a form of posthumous bullying against his former signee.

Fans quickly took to social media to express their anger. One user on X (formerly Twitter), @Veekaysss, wrote, “This is enough evidence to declare them killers of Mohbad, but this is Nigeria 💔.” Another user, @topetyez_, added, “He didn’t have to say that line at all, to be honest. Very unnecessary.”

The backlash adds to the controversy surrounding Naira Marley, who has already been named as a suspect in the investigation into Mohbad’s death. Many view this latest lyric as further proof of insensitivity, intensifying public outrage against the singer and his record label.
