PDP Backs Udeh-Okoye as Secretary, Recognizes Fubara as Rivers Leader

By   Milcah   Tanimu

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) has reaffirmed its support for Rt Hon Sunday Udeh-Okoye as the party’s National Secretary, following the recent Appeal Court ruling in his favor.

PDP National Treasurer, Yayari Ahmed Mohammed, revealed that 14 out of 17 NWC members are united behind Udeh-Okoye’s leadership. Speaking during a meeting with Governor Siminalayi Fubara at the Government House in Port Harcourt, Yayari emphasized that no higher court has overturned the Appeal Court’s decision.

“We, as the majority of the NWC members, support Udeh-Okoye as the National Secretary and will continue to work with him. We also seek the support of governors to uphold this judgment. Currently, there is no court ruling that nullifies the Appeal Court’s decision,” Yayari stated.

Yayari also affirmed Governor Siminalayi Fubara as the PDP leader in Rivers State, following the party’s tradition of recognizing sitting governors as state leaders.

“As the policy of the PDP dictates, the Governor is the leader of the party in Rivers State. We are here to consult with our leader, assure him of our full support, and urge him to strengthen the party while delivering democracy’s dividends to the people of Rivers,” Yayari added.

The PDP NWC urged Rivers State residents to support Governor Fubara in his efforts to enhance governance and bolster the party’s strength in the state.
