The FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, has told Nigerians that the National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will prove the party’s strength and readiness to come alive to prove its political relevance.
Wike made the assertion on Saturday in Abuja while inspecting the convention venue, shortly after hosting party stakeholders ahead of the exercise.
More than 2,000 delegates drawn from the 36 states of the federation converge at the Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium for the convention.
The minister assured that all logistics and arrangements had been put in place to ensure a smooth and successful event, urging delegates to maintain peace, discipline, and order throughout the proceedings.
He stressed that unity among party members remains critical to achieving a hitch-free convention and repositioning the PDP for the future.
“For me, this is a job well done. You can see that we are not over-decorating; this is what is called proper arrangement. I am confident Nigerians will be impressed with what they see, and it will serve as testimony that the PDP is back,” Wike said.
He added that the level of organization reflects the party’s preparedness and commitment to rebuilding its structure.
On security, Wike noted the visible presence of personnel at the venue, describing it as an indication that adequate measures have been taken to prevent any form of disruption.
“As you come in, you can see the presence of security agencies. We are determined to organize a hitch-free convention. We are aware that some individuals may attempt to cause confusion, but security agencies are fully prepared to handle such situations,” he stated.
Moreover, the minister had called on delegates to remain calm, orderly, and supportive of the efforts of the organizing committees to ensure the success of the convention.
