PDP Criticizes APC Governor Over Aide Appointments Ahead of Election

By   Milcah   Tanimu

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken aim at Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s recent decision to appoint 344 new aides, just weeks before the gubernatorial election scheduled for November 16.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, in a move announced less than 10 weeks before the crucial vote, has appointed 28 Senior Special Assistants and 316 Special Assistants. His Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniran, stated that these appointments aim to improve governance and service delivery in the state.

The PDP responded by condemning the governor’s priorities. In a statement posted on its X handle, the party criticized the allocation of N1.5 billion for these positions amid a significant crisis involving over 240,000 out-of-school children in the state.

“The recent allocation of N1.5 billion to fund the employment of 344 special assistants and senior special assistants, amidst a crisis of over 240,000 out-of-school children in Ondo State by @LuckyAiyedatiwa’s administration is highly condemnable,” the PDP statement reads.

“It is appalling that the government would prioritize political expediency over the education and well-being of children in Ondo State,” the statement concludes.
