PDP supporters on rampage set police vehicle ablaze in Jigawa

Irate members of the People Democratic party PDP vanguards have set a hilux vehicle of Nigerian Police force ablaze in Gwaram local government.

The incident happened at the PDP campaign rally for the Jigawa North central when the police fired teargas canister to disperse some party’s supporters fighting in the venue.

Eyewitness who claimed anonymity said, the incident worsen when the canister hit one of the party supporters and fell in the crowd.

“PDP supporters alleged that the police was instructed by APC administration to disrupted the rally”.

“party supporters became angry because they are suspecting that the shot had killed the victim which infuriated the charged crowd‎ that started chasing the police officers”.He stated.

The stamped attracted the attention of dignitaries including Alhaji Sule Lamido and others who were on the podium, the situation that made the former governor to take over the microphone and started shouting at the rampaging crowd to stop.

crowd refused to adhere to shouts and plea by Alhaji Sule Lamido to stop attacking the police van while some even went ahead and brought corn stalks and stuffed them inside the vehicle and set it on fire.

The further destruction was stopped when Lamido, quickly rounded-up the rally by coming down from the podium to where the burning police ‎vehicle was and ordered the crowd to leave the spot.

It could be recalled that on January 9th Police in Jigawa state have teargased members of the Peoples Democratic party rally in Gumel local government area for allegedly holding campaign without police approval.

The Peoples Democratic party had alleged that police was given instructions by the Jigawa state Governor Alhaji Muhammad Badru Abubakar to disrupted the rally.

Responding on the allegation The Jigawa state police commissioner CP Bala Zama sachi debunked the People Democratic party PDP allegations in Jigawa state that Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar ordered police to disrupted its zonal rally.

The CP explained that he was never influence by anybody but took the action for security reasons and betterment of the people of the state.
