Pilgrimage Is Spiritual Exercise, Not Jamboree, NCPC Boss Warns Intending Pilgrims

By Joyce Remi-Babayeju

As intending pilgrims depart Abuja on Monday night to Jordan and the Holy Land of Israel, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Stephen Adegbite, has warned intending pilgrims to take the exercise as a spiritual journey and not a jamboree He gave this warning on 15th September 2025 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport while bidding farewell to the departing intending Christian pilgrims before their airlift to Israel and Jordan for the NCPC delayed Easter Pilgrimage exercise.

Bishop Adegbite said, “What you are going for is a spiritual journey, not a jamboree.”

He advised the intending Christian pilgrims to avoid embarking on shopping sprees and to concentrate on the real purpose of the journey, which is premised on spirituality.

He further advised them to be of good behavior and conduct themselves in a most orderly manner while in the Holy Land.

The Bishop emphasized that the pilgrimage journey should be a period of new experience.

He assured them that they would see the manifestations of God’s glory in their lives and would come back with outstanding testimonies.

He affirmed that President Bola Tinubu is not a religious bigot because he has been most supportive of both Christian and Muslim pilgrimages.

Bishop Adegbite urged them to uphold President Bola Tinubu and the first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu in prayer so that the Good Lord would continue to renew their strength to finish well in the service of the nation.
Remember the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu in prayer as she turns 65 years on earth on 21st September 2025, he said.

Bishop Adegbite further averred that as many as would want to go to Israel would be assisted by the commission. About 350 intending Christian pilgrims departed Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, last night for the Kingdom of Jordan, en route to Israel, made up of FCT Christian pilgrims, Edo, Taraba, Benue, and consulars.
