Youth groups from Langtang North, Langtang South, and Wase Local Government Areas of Plateau State have publicly endorsed Governor Caleb Mutfwang for a second term in office, declaring that there is “no vacancy” in the Government House at Little Rayfield.
The endorsement came under the umbrella of the Tarok Youths for Inclusive Governance, who expressed their satisfaction with the governor’s performance over the past one year and ten months. In a statement, they urged Mutfwang to continue his leadership until May 2031, citing his transformative policies and commitment to the state’s development.
The statement read: “Governor Caleb Mutfwang has distinguished himself as a visionary leader who, through his transformative ‘The Time is Now’ administration, has profoundly changed the state in less than two years.”
Mr. Nanlir Jacob Fabong, the leader of the group, praised the governor for turning the state into a massive construction hub, with ongoing roadworks in various communities.
While acknowledging that Governor Mutfwang has not yet declared his intentions to run in the 2027 elections, the group appealed to him to do so, stressing the need for continued leadership to provide the people with the dividends of democracy.
“We believe that Governor Mutfwang has the best interest of the people at heart,” the statement continued. “Plateau needs more of the development he’s bringing to the state.”
The group also passed a vote of confidence on several key state officials, including Arch Samuel Nanchang Jatau, the Secretary to the State Government, and Commissioners from Langtang South, Rt. Hon. Joyce Ramnap, and Langtang North, Hon. Ubandoma Laven. They also commended the local government chairmen for their work in their respective areas.
“We support Governor Mutfwang at all times and will continue to back his administration for its excellent leadership and transformation,” the statement read.
The group highlighted Mutfwang’s efforts in addressing insecurity, which has contributed to the return of investors to the state. They also praised his work in revitalizing the transportation, agriculture, and other critical sectors.
“Governor Mutfwang has not disappointed the people of Plateau State,” they said, calling for continued support to help him finish the good work he has started.
The statement ended with a call to those eyeing the governor’s seat to step aside and allow Mutfwang to complete his second term. “We need to unite and support Governor Mutfwang to ensure that Plateau State continues its path of uninterrupted development,” they urged.
The group concluded by stating that Mutfwang’s leadership has successfully improved the state’s infrastructure and economic policies focused on people’s welfare, making him the ideal candidate to ensure a brighter future for Plateau.
They also appealed to miners in the state to be patient with the government following the temporary suspension of mining activities, expressing confidence that the Mutfwang-led administration is committed to revamping the sector.
