Plateau Assembly takes decisive action, suspends all 17 LG chairmen.

During a plenary session presided over by Speaker Abok Ayuba, members of the Plateau State House of Assembly made the decision to suspend all the chairmen in the 17 Local Government Areas of the state. The motion for the suspension was initiated by Pirfa Tyem, the representative for Langtang North-North constituency, in response to allegations of financial impropriety leveled against the local government officials.

The allegations were made through a petition submitted to the House and subsequently communicated to the lawmaker by Governor Caleb Mutfwang. Following the passing of the motion, Speaker Ayuba officially announced the suspension of the council officials. He also instructed them to hand over all government assets and properties in their possession to the Director of Personnel Management, pending the investigation into the allegations.

Further details regarding the specific nature of the financial impropriety and the status of the investigation are currently unavailable.
