As the Local Government Council elections approach on October 9, 2024, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Langtang South has officially welcomed more than 2,458 former members of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) into its ranks.

The decampees, hailing from various wards in Langtang South, were warmly received by the PDP leadership at the Local Government Headquarters in Mabudi. The leader of the new members expressed their attraction to the PDP’s vision for a better Langtang South and Plateau State, highlighting the party’s commitment to good governance, economic development, and social welfare as key reasons for their shift.

The PDP leadership, led by LGA Chairman Hon. Timloh Sauri Faman and Chairmanship candidate Hon. Nanfa Alhassan Nbin, assured the newcomers of equal rights and opportunities within the party. They pledged to work diligently to address the challenges facing both the local government area and the state.

PDP Zonal Chairman Hon. Simon Domle, who welcomed the decampees on behalf of the party, expressed satisfaction with the influx of new members. He stated that their decision to join the PDP reflects the party’s commitment to the well-being of the community, assuring them of ongoing support and collaboration in building a better future for Langtang South and Plateau State.

The defection of SDP members into the PDP represents a significant boost to the party’s strength and popularity in the area. The PDP remains steadfast in its ideals of good governance, social justice, and economic development, according to Domle.
