Police Anti-Social-Vice Unit Arrest 25 Suspects in Kaduna

The newly established Anti-Social-Vice Unit of the Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 25 suspects, locally known as ‘Sara-Suka,’ in the Kaduna metropolis. This action follows a surge in thuggery, phone and female handbag snatching, and drug-related offenses among the youth in the state.

ASP Hassan Mansir, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Command, stated that the Commissioner of Police in Kaduna, Audu Dabigi Ali, set up the new unit to address all acts of social vices in the state.

“The unit, referred to as the Anti Vice Unit, has commenced operations and will work closely with all divisions to diligently handle cases of thuggery, phone snatching, drug and illicit substance consumption and peddling, and possession of dangerous weapons,” Mansir said.

He added, “Consequently, no fewer than 25 individuals have been arrested across the metropolis for these offenses, with 16 of them apprehended in the Rigasa area, charged with thuggery (Sara-Suka) and possession of dangerous weapons.”

The Commissioner of Police has tasked the new outfit with making Kaduna State, especially the metropolis, safe for residents by continuously denying these criminals any operating space. He also urged parents and guardians to warn their wards against engaging in delinquent activities.
